Islamic Careers

When Mohammed died in 632 AD, his second wife's father, a rich man named Abu Bakr, took over the leadership of the new religion of Islam, and of the newly united Arab tribes. Mohammed left no sons, and in any case there was no tradition of sons taking over in the Arab world. Abu Bakr, who was pretty old, only lived for two years after becoming Caliph, but he managed to unite the whole Arabian Peninsula under Islam.

There was a rebellion of the Arab tribes after Mohammed's death, which we call the Ridda. With their leader gone, the tribes wanted to go back to being independent. Abu Bakr took an army and succeeded in destroying the Ridda and bringing those Arab tribes back under Islamic control.

Improving your self-image, like improving any skill, takes time and practice. Developing good self-esteem involves encouraging a positive (but realistic) attitude toward yourself and the world around you and appreciating your worth, while at the same time behaving responsibly towards others. Self-esteem isn't self-absorption; it's self-respect.

By working from the inside out (focusing on changing your own way of thinking before changing the circumstances around you), you can build your self-esteem. The goal of this positive thinking is to give yourself a more positive self-concept, while seeing yourself honestly and accepting yourself, and removing the internal barriers that can keep you from doing your best.

A picture's worth a thousand words: The importance of imagery in your content strategy

”Processing print isn’t something the human brain was built for. The printed word is a human artifact. It’s very convenient and it’s worked very well for us for 5,000 years, but it’s an invention of human beings. By contrast Mother Nature has built into our brain our ability to see the visual world and interpret it,” said Marcel Just, the director of the Center for Cognitive Brain Imaging at Carnegie Mellon University.

Strong imagery with a good design are also a great component for a commerce-related content strategy. At our recent #C2CSummit, Ben Bowers of Gear Patroltalked about the importance of including good images in their posts. He emphasized that commerce-related content isn’t just about the products you write about, it’s about inspiring your readers.

“Too many buying guides just inform and are missing the key ingredient of inspiration that entices consumers and generates intent,” said Bowers.
